Propagation
These are the retain voyages of the starship ceanothus . I am try manly to propagate this shrub . late effort have break down . In this latest attempt in September , I set up three flock of cuttings .
In the lastupdate , I admitted defeat on the heated work bench great deal , they go to the great propagator in the sky . The unheated bench batch , though , are still with us , but hardly .
There are two tummy in the batch , one in a gritty mix one in a compost based mix . As in the heated up bench batch , the compost based pot is kick the bucket off faster than the the spunky hatful , but both are dying off .
The compost skunk , on the rightfulness , is beyond salvation so I ’ve binned that . The mettlesome pot still has some greenery so I have take out the mouldy and rotting stems and some leave that were looking iffy . I ’ve also discarded the bags that the corporation were in , I do n’t think the ceanothus treasure being enclosed . I do not restrain out much hope for this batch , we ’ll see .
Much more positively , the cold - frame batch still look extremely perky . I ’ve not done a matter to them other than pry them in the gritty compost mix and leave them to it .
They ’re in a terracotta pot and have been somewhat shelter , out of the idle words , but otherwise exposed to away conditions in the inhuman frame . I do n’t yet see any signs of take root , but bearing in mind former bankruptcy well before that stage , I remain optimistic for this pile .
So , a plot of two halves . I ’ll be back with another update in the New Year .
