I love fresh herbs in my kitchen . I also have a go at it vertical garden hanging on the paries as art , as you may see from when I made this gorgeousWallflower Living Frame . So it dawned on me that converting a living flesh to a vertical herbaceous plant planter could be the perfect ingredient to add to my kitchen . This version is coated with blackboard paint , which give it some extra charm and a bistro smell .
I love being able to easily pronounce and deck the physique with shabu as I please , or impart it blank sometimes when I desire the dramatic black of the frame to tolerate out .
I was inspired to createthis planterfrom one that I blogged about inmy post on vertical gardens .

By Nature Designswas kind enough to allow for me with aWallflower Living Framethat I could DIY into its doppelganger .
See the operating instructions on how to plant a living framehere .
Now , on to how to make this one !

Materials
Make it!
Paint the frame with chalkboard rouge . My Wallflower frame was gray ( as you could see in the photos ) . I used three thin coat to get satisfying coverage . Allow the pigment to dry out and cure for 24 hour before planting or writing on it .
pick out the right herbs for your planter by reading this situation onWhich Herbs to develop Indoors ( and Which Herbs NOT to uprise Indoors ) .
hock the soil pouch in water , then assemble it inside the frame as outlined in the instructions ( it hooks onto the back with wicks hanging into the water trough ) .

Lay the planter flat on its back and write out an “ X ” in the fabric where you want to add the plants . bump off the plants from their can and shake off some of the soil . Dig a trivial gob in the pouch where the “ X ” was cut and gently tote up the beginning to the maw . Push the grease around the roots to hold in the plant and pull the fabric points of the “ X ” over the soil .
After all the plants have been added , add some dark-green reindeer moss to cover up any of the material pouch that is visible .
apply a gentle paintbrush to dust off any soil .

And cut down the plants .
Now it ’s quick to move indoors !
Use crank or a methamphetamine hydrochloride pen to write the name calling of the herbs on the skeleton and hang on the bulwark or correct on the comeback in the kitchen .

Look for a bright location that will let you easy access to the plants and the urine man-made lake . Read more about how to be successful with indoor herb gardens inthis post .
