To sometime husbandman who can taste the soil to lie with what it involve , and young parents who eagerly identify aboriginal grasses with their speech sound app . We are teach our children important liveliness moral . Where solid food comes from . How a flower open . Whybees and butterflies are our friends . I start gardening when my children were 4 and 6 because I desire them to understand and live these lessons . Some of my fond memories are of them proudly harvesting their own garlic , selling peony at our roadside pedestal , and rushing out with their friend to piece brisk snap pea off the vine .
We are model a healthy lifestyle . As much as we may also love see sports or being on our laptops , we are also show our tike the value of being outdoors . Working with our hand . Having the commitment and cacoethes to be out there regularly from start to finish , from soil to seedling to yield and flower . They see us ( or hopefully are with us ) as we do back inside gleefully dirty , clutching a handful of unfermented radish for dinner or refreshed poppy for the vase .
We are care for the ground . pull up stakes the soil a bit healthier for our grandchildren . Helping our garden clean the atmosphere and water system . Providing habitatfor good insects and animation . continue native breeds and biodiversity . Some of you are like my neighbor , the dada who is the drive force in the garden , out there almost every day with his new daughter , delightedly discovering , laboring and playing . Others are more like me , the stiff back wisely following focus from our much wise and impractical collaborator . Or maybe horticulture is your solo undertaking , your probability to meditate and revel restrained sentence , recharge the batteries before go back inside to be a invigorated and grounded parent . We all have our own leadership to the garden , and I truly think that in myriad ways it makes us better , healthier , stronger , happier dad .
