Homegrown perfume factory
Right now , my garden is a perfume manufacturing plant working overtime . flock laurel blossom mingle with the sweetness of bridal - gowned Mexican plum tree .
Beneficial insects swoop between them and ‘ Spring Bouquet ’ viburnums .
As I pruned ‘ Maggie ’ at last , I had to block off now and then to “ smell the roses . ”

Narcissus ‘ Falconet ’ beckons a tête - à - tête to catch a gentle puff .
I have to get even closer to catch the scent of spring starflowers ( Ipheion uniflorum ) and the few grape hyacinths I have . These are in reality Muscari , though I have no cue which one .
White summer flake ( Leucojum aestivum ) and the flowers of silver bush germander ( Teucrium fruticans)are too subtle for my allergy - stricken nose , but they sure are pretty .

Here ’s a wider shot that includes snapdragons , the first I ’ve planted in age . I ’m get it on it !
Perennial Scotty ’s Surprise oxalis ( discovered byScott Ogden ) and wintertime annual snapdragons appeal more to the center than to the olfactory organ .
This bottom is more structural than fragrant , with young pine tree muhly ( Muhlenbergia dubia ) , shrimp plant , Yucca ‘ Margaritaville ’ , pink skullcap , dwarf Jerusalem sage , majestic essence , heart-leaf calvaria , and wintertime yearly broth .

Still , the Jerusalem sage has a fragile salvia - y scent , and the stocks are nose - stoppers !
lamentably , the 89 ° last calendar week means that my stock of farm animal is about to bleed out . Fun while it last ! In April , I think I ’m croak to installTexas Superstar angeloniasin their property .
Event of the week : The First Austin African Violet Societyhosts its forty-fourth pass judgment show and sale “ African Violets and Other Wonders of the World ” on March 17 and 18 atZilker Botanical Garden . Guaranteed to make your indoor garden as glamourous as the one alfresco !

See you next week , Linda
