Hoffman Nursery has announced Stephen Gillis ( Sales and Customer Service Manager ) , Jessica Hall ( Sales and Customer Service Representative ) , and Sami Nickerson ( Sales and Customer Service Representative ) have obtained their Stormwater SCM Inspection and Maintenance certification from North Carolina State University ( N.C. State ) .
Communities across North Carolina must manage stormwater with Stormwater Control Measures ( SCMs ) such as fuddled and dry retentivity ponds , bioretention area , swales , and stormwater wetlands to slow , filter out , and unmediated stormwater runoff . These SCMs must have yearly , and sometimes more frequent , inspections and upkeep to perform as intended . This certification provide an apprehension of stormwater and its effects on water quality and treat the consumption , use , regulations , inspections , and upkeep of SCMs in North Carolina .
Because many SCMs use botany ( green infrastructure ) that is peg down in the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality ’s Stormwater Design Manual , Hoffman Nursery set a goal for all member of our sale squad to earn this credential .
