I like this wide angle persuasion of the inside of the greenhouse
I want to heat the greenhouse in the winter using inactive solar method . There is nothing grow in it so far this wintertime but I ’m doing some experimenting to see how warm I can get it ( my destination is around 32 ° F or ardent ) at Nox . To this ending I ’m experimenting using compost to help heat up it , putting some barrels with water in them to act as a rut sinks and I ’m insulate the structure inside a little near so as not to mislay so much heat at dark . If the sun shine , it catch between 70 - 80 ° in the solar day decent now ( which is delightful ) and I ’d like to keep some of that heating plant in at nighttime and not fall behind it . Of naturally I had the opposite trouble last summer when it got too hot but that ’s another trouble I ’ll direct this summertime !

The compost pile is only 1/2 a yard so is likely not enough to keep it significantly warm inside the glasshouse but what if it add up a degree or two ? I ’ll take it . Everything helps . The compost pile arrest up to 112 ° F while the surrounding soil in the two raised bed is 40 ° F . Not that I ’m planting in the compost but it shows it is importantly ardent . Now it has cooled down to 60 ° . The night temperature are still below freeze inside .
Since I did n’t have a chance make shutter for the screen window before wintertime go down in , my champion , Jody , thought of set charge plate on both sides of the clear screen ‘ window ’ to immobilise warm air and slow the heat loss . I ’ve done that now .
The vent are traverse with credit card and house of cards wrapper is on all the window

I just put bubble wrap on the windows to hopefully act as insulating material to slow the release of heating at night as well . Plus I added bubble wrap on the ceiling between the rafters . Elodie tell credibly a deal of heat is loss up there through the uninsulated fiberglass roof . Now the green house looks like a bubble wrap house on the inside ! The night temperature are still below freezing inside .
I painted the pelting drum black and fill up them with water to act as heat swallow hole
I also have 4 rainwater barrels that I painted disastrous and filled with water and installed hosepipe bibs on the bottom so I can empty the H2O out at the remnant of wintertime . I put them under the originate tables and the night temperatures are still below suspend indoors . And lastly I plugged up a draw of leaks where the cap meets the rafters .

The vents are covered with plastic and bubble wrap is on all the windows
Did it work ? Are my nighttime temperature above freeze ? NOPE . I ’ve only been able to keep it about 5 stage ardent than the out-of-door temperature which make me go to project B.
What is plan atomic number 5 ? Try planting only super cold hardy wintertime cat valium and see what chance . Stayed tuned …
