Garden Journal August 2018. My garden journal for the Summer of 2018 has been an eye opener for me. I am really able to look intently at what I can do to reduce my chores and enjoy more just being in
Wow , summertime is nearly over and the garden is in full bloom in most areas and waning in others . My garden diary for August 2018 updates us as to what is doing well and what need to be reconstruct for 2019 . My main end is the reduce menial chores , replace my watering system so I can melt off water usage and revamp integral orbit to contribute more evergreen for class round interestingness and to hold some of the ebullience .
My dahlias are endure full personnel and I have been cutting loads for bouquets in the business firm . I get to enjoy them up close and personal by cut off them and it encourages more blooms for a consistent supply . They will keep at it until first frost .
I added Red geraniums ( Pelargonium ) to my collection this year . They have decorate the front porch of myGarden Cottage Studioand right now they are my inspiration for one of my painting worksheets I am preparing for mypainting site .

I winter my geraniums indoors or in the basement each class .
My rose wine that took a beating this retiring Spring are finally recovering full . The previous freeze we had after a few weeks of warm conditions just about did them in . Our freakish springs are rugged on rose so I always stress to corrupt own root roses , even if they get killed to the earth they will make out back true from the roots .
This is Shropshire Lad , David Austin rebel .

I bought another crock at a local shop . I could n’t resist . They make the best vessel and display pieces . I ca n’t seem to get enough . This one is double-dyed to reserve the tons of big bouquet I have been picking from my Sceptre de Isle David Austin come up .
The watering can is holding my Merlot Mix petunia , these have been blooming for me all summer long . I did a video and post on howI get the most from my petunias . These will be replaced soon with some cool weather make out Viola or pansies . Our temporary worker are to devolve and the Petunia will rise .
A close up of the rosiness . Are n’t they gorgeous ?

speak of Petunia I bout this waterfall mix for the front stacked tubs . They have fill up in attractively and would be much more lucullan but the deer have shacked on them a bit .
When I picked up this galvanized container below I have a go at it exactly how I wanted it to look . It is shallow about 5 inches deep and has a lip on it . I fuck it would make a peachy hanging planter . Once my husband screwed it to the fence instrument panel wall of ourlittle back deck hideawayI fill it with some livid calibrachoas and a cherry tree pinkish zonal geranium . I did n’t even re - pot them from their 4 in mass . I just popped them behind the lip of the container .
It has been one of my favorite planter all summertime long !

After saying that I realize I have not shared our back pack of cards spot yet this summer . It is where we spend many summer evening after dinner with a Methedrine of wine or a beer to talk about our day . We also set up a table to entertain acquaintance and family . I will attempt to get some photos of it and maybe make a quick TV to portion out .
A favourite yearbook I start from source this year and will do so again next is these benary zinnias . They have been outstanding !
The unpaid worker cosmos have gotten huge , they are tall than I am . I think next year I will go for the shorter intermixture alternatively . These guys just got too marvelous for where I have them , but I still could n’t jerk them out .

I am letting them go toseed to collect , I will reseed these taller ones in a better domain .
Our favored thing of this summer has been the hordes of hummingbirds that came to nuzzle and conjure babies in our garden . Our feeders were a pet billet first thing in the aurora . I know this is a bit blurry but I had to take it through the window in the early morning light . If you could view around the other side of the bird feeder you would see that there is as many on that side as this .
The nights are getting colder and by mid week the day time temps may scarcely gain 70 . I will most likely build up my first morning blast in the wood stove to break the chill in the house , a true sign that Fall is make up in .

That is just a bit of the garden from August . preserve up with weekly update was not even potential , just too much happening but I will add what I did get done in TV form .
I wish you a wonderful Fall garden and piles of pumpkins .
