I need to say Happy Holidays to you all and desire this New Year find out you and your family secure and healthy .
I do n’t know about you , but I am ready for 2021 and shake about the new class . Hopefully we can all total together as one nation , one world , alternatively of being divided and polarize . It is important to treat hoi polloi with respect , get wind them and work together with each other .

In prison term like these , I call for to focus on what I am thankful for . It is easy to get bogged down in all the negativity we ’ve had this yr and there has been a spate . But the blessing have been bully too - peculiarly in the garden . I have many things to be thankful for but will focus on garden gratitude for this Emily Post . Hey , I ’m still here right ? Now that ’s a huge approving and my family line has been hunky-dory too - another bonus .
My garden did really well this year and for that I am immensely grateful as it hold open me busy and at a more relaxed footstep since I was n’t going anywhere . fourth dimension to really love being there .

I send away about 39 jars of muddle this year-15 Cornichons , 8 jam smack and 16 bread n butter hole . Many of which I now have given away .
As I mention in the last post , I canned 251 lbs of tomato into 52 jars of dissimilar pasta sauce which was exhausting but I ’m really happy to have it in the buttery and have enough to give lots away as well .
Besides all that tomato canning , I had lots of tomatoes that I guy , and of course ate many lbs unfermented as well and sold some too . So grateful I had a openhanded tomato plant harvest home this year compared to last year ’s dark harvest .
So grateful the canning is done for the yr !
I get 6 BIG Kalibos Red cabbage- I give aside 5 and only sustain one for myself since they averaged 6 - 7 lbs each .
I had incredible measure of kale and chard . Sold some , ate stacks and blanched lots in 2 - 3 cups increments that I freeze in freezer grip which is nice to drag out of the freezer and bedevil in a dish or soup all winter as call for .
I had many Waltham white walnut squash that I grew forClaufatis Cafehere in town for their infamous butternut soup which is so good I could drink it or drub the bowl ( or both ) ! Do n’t think back how many pound , but it was a wad !
Plus I had lots of my young Lava Red peppercorn that were topnotch prolific . I had wanted to grow Jimmy Nardello peppers but my germ did n’t germinate and the nursery did n’t have any flora , so I grew this recollective red Corno di Toro eccentric that I got seed from my friend Lava , in Germany . Since she did n’t know which variety of pepper this was , I just call it Lava Red pepper . Seems meet with her name ! My novel favored red pepper ! See , sometimes when I am forced to maturate something else because of the seed and flora deficit this past spring , I ended up with something young and exciting ! Plus a friend did give me some Jimmies he farm as well .
Plus I got many carrots , beets , lucre , spinach , summer squash , garlic and shallots .
FRUITSSome fruits were great and some not as good this year .
The orchard apple tree trees did produce a lot but dropped most of them - I surmise due to the drought . But Koko the horse and the goatie thing in the barn were grateful and loved all of them !
The apricot tree really shined as a shade tree but did not produce this class which is nothing raw . But hey , I ’m grateful for any tree that can grow here - we have more drought here in the past few year than I can remember . My new pear , peach and plum tree diagram are too new to produce but I can daydream about how it will be in the future .
The strawberry had a decent harvest but I will necessitate to thin them next year to produce more .
But the substantial star were the grapes and blackberry bush - grateful for a marvellous harvest this twelvemonth .
One of the good thing is I was able to keep up on the harvest time for everything this year .
And then there were the raspberries … Unbelievable harvest this year . So much so , that again I invited some friends to hail cull as my deep-freeze was full . 19 gallon bags of raspberry bush in the deep-freeze .
It ’s safe to be thankful and brooding at the offset of the raw twelvemonth before I get brainless in the garden again !
